For my 3 questions that I would like to ask the librarian I would have to start with:
1. How do we know which books are available and at which libraries and how do we go about holding them? 2. What happens if one of the books I need isnt offered at one of our libraries? Lastly, I would ask if they had the archives of the Daily Targum's. I feel like this could be kind of cool to look back on the old newspapers and see if there were any articles related to what my paper might be about.

So I didn’t know that there was a prompt for the blog this week hence why I spoke about something’s that were on my mind and had to do with the readings and stuff. But now that I know the prompt I will start with talking about that. I realize that my professor wanted something more specific but I feel like the trends of Latinos in college is something that is of interest to me. The experience that they have and why is that the rate of graduation for Latino students is lower than other ethnicities. I have found many articles about these trends when I typed in things like “Latinos in College” or “Latinos in Higher Education”. I so far have found a few scholarly articles such as: http://mars.shpe.org/nila/usb/marketing/Latinos%20in%20Higher%20Education.pdf which did a study about the rate of Latinos in college; https://sakai.rutgers.edu/access/content/group/0a86f7f4-91da-486d-a7d2-e8b7a13ec43b/MacDonald_Garc%C3%ADa-Historical_perspectives.pdf  This scholarly article discusses the trends of Latinos in college and talks about the different time periods and where Latinos stood in those times when it came to going to college. Whether it was accepted or if many went things like that.  I didn’t find any controversy about these facts and studies but I know that there are some that are upset with the statistics of Latinos dropping out of college or never going to college. I think I want to write my paper about the trends of Latinos in College and why is it that some of them decide not to go or why many of them drop out.

Thoughts about Privatization, Expos 5 and Michael Moffat

Privatization is something that is super scary to think about because its something that will not only affect me but essentially it will affect the future generations. Privatization really does hit the pocket hard and its not even that fair. The government should contribute equally because it really does affect the society and the more people feel as though its a burden to go to school the less they will end up going to school and taking another route.

Watching "Expos 5" it made me think of when i was in expos and how much i hated it! It was certainly a learning experience in the end that I'm grateful for having but I know at the time it was a hassle and my whole life revolved around it. I really couldnt go out or focus on other subjects as much as  I would have liked to becasue I was so scared about failing expos. I remember pulling C's all semester and with the help of the tutor and seeing my professor for office hours twice a week I ended up with a B in the class. I was so excited for that.

The reading that Michael Moffatt wrote was most interesting to me because it was about the dorms and the experience he had as an outsider looking in. I thought it was very interesting to read about the transition of how Rutgers went from a place that allowed underage drinking to a place that all of a sudden didn't allow it anymore. I just thought it was a little funny considering how strict they are about it now and just a few years before I was born it changed.

Initial Thoughts On The Topic For My Final Paper

There are two reasons why I joined this course. The first reason is because it fulfilled a writing intensive requirement which I need for the School of Arts and Science. The second reason is because it interested in me. This is my second class that questions and looks at the idea of College and what it entails and the agendas behind these different institutions. The first course I took was about Latinos in College and this is very interesting to me as a Latina in College. This course explained the difficulties and the experiences that most Hispanic students feel when coming into a University. I know for my family I was the first member to be admitted and attend a college and this is something very special. I am lucky enough to have the privilege to go to such a well known school such as Rutgers University. However, although that was a great experience on its own, I feel as though this course has already brought a different light to the experiences that college has on a Latina. Of course in the course I took we spoke about the effects of the cost of going to a University but it wasn't as thoroughly discussed and explained such as this class. I think it would be very interesting to write my paper on the effects of the cost of college on the Latino population. Watching and reading the course material really has broadened my thoughts about the rising cost of college and as a result i am much more aware of this growing issue that not only effects me but will potentially affect my kids and my younger family members in the near future.
